Magic & Wealth
Grant me the serenity to allow wealth to fall freely into my life.
So many of us are caught up in concerns about money. We hear and read constantly that times have been tough and daily we are inundated with statements about the 1%, the 5% and the rest of us. Even writing out those terms makes me tense.
There is much literature on beliefs, affirmations and wealth. There is a list of those books in the resources section of this book. There is also a great deal of money out there in the universe. It is a matter of connecting to it. But, you say, I have none and I need it now…
So what does serenity mean in this instance? Simply allowing money, things needed, opportunities to flow can be, oddly enough, challenging. In my usual state, I can’t imagine winning the lottery without thinking about taxes owed, what gifts I’ll make for what people, whether there will be any left after doing all that, wondering what it would take to quit my job — and how that would impact health insurance for me and my husband.
You see the problem.
How can I simply allow wealth to flow into my life?
Then there’s walking through the store comparing prices…and avoiding some stores altogether.
How can I stop living in and reinforcing what I believe to be my monetary reality?
According to many, many spiritual teachers, all with books that are available to read, one must change one’s vibration to reflect what one wants…and holding the confidence that you will be taken care of financially, will allow opportunities to flow. I have experienced this.
It happened during my twenties. I had been asked to submit my resignation from a job that was truly awful. I won’t go into details, but I’d bet that every one of us has had a least one job like that. Even getting unemployment was a trial and took some special intervention. However, it was summer in New York City, I finally did have my unemployment, I was taking a dance class or two, applying for jobs all over the place, and I was extremely happy. I also had the feeling I was going to win the lottery. I don’t know why I had that feeling, because I rarely bought tickets – but my spirit felt I was going to win the lottery. I was holding the vibration or energy that I would be coming into money.
One day I got a phone call from a firm that I had sent my resume to every so often, and I would have loved to work for. The caller said they were just keeping in touch, they had no work at my level. I asked, “Even part-time?” He laughed and said no part-time work. The next day I got a call back asking if I was serious about part-time work. I said yes and came in. The project that they needed someone to complete was right in my ballpark – and I was happy to do it. They asked me how much I wanted to make/charge. As I was sitting there wondering if I could ask for $15/hour – they two men held a conversation over my head. They thought about what they were paying X, and said to me “Would $700 a day be OK?” I nearly fell right out of my chair. Of course I said “Yes.” I went on to work there full-time for a number of years and it was a great job for me.
This story resonates with the advice of many spiritual teachers. Their advice is to achieve the vibration of where you want to be – and if you hold the vibration long enough, it will come to pass. My vibration at the time was “I’m going to win the lottery.” I didn’t stress about how I was going to win, or what I would do with it – just felt happy-go-lucky free that I would win the lottery. Any my personal lottery came about.
Now in my fifties, I have a more difficult time with the concept of money, finances, financial freedom and what type of work I need to be doing to support myself. In fact I can make myself quite miserable about it.
However, the vibration I want is winning the lottery – which means to me earning far more than I expect at work I love. When I am in this spot, good things happen, promotions come out of thin air. But what is most important, is that before any of that happens, I am a happy, positive person.
