What is Mindcare?

All of the services at MindPath Care Centers are aimed at providing the best mindcare for you. “Mindcare” includes everything you need to improve and protect your emotional, psychological, biological and social health. It combines a medical understanding of our brains, professional techniques to help us control how we react or respond to outside influences and stressors, and treatments to target conditions that are beyond our control. When you combine physical care, provided by primary and specialist health providers, with the mindcare provided by health professionals like MindPath, you have a complete source of overall healthcare.

Without a healthy mind, it can be much more difficult to have a healthy body. According to the Mental Health Foundation:

  • schizophrenia is associated with three times the risk of dying of respiratory disease, and twice the risk of dying from heart disease
  • individuals with depression may have a 50-percent higher risk of dying from cancer and a 67-percent higher risk of dying from heart disease

Despite the important link between physical health and mindcare, fewer people receive mindcare than physical care.

  • The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report that, in 2012-2014, 693 in 10,000 adults (about 7 percent) visited a psychiatrist for mindcare, and 397 in 10,000 (about 4 percent) visited a primary-care physician for mindcare
  • In comparison, up to 53 percent of U.S. adults in 2013 visited a general physician for physical care

We believe that a healthy person has both a healthy body and healthy mind. Mindcare services, like those provided by MindPath Care Centers, can help you align physical and emotional wellness to help you feel your very best.
