About Amanda Forbus, APRN
Amanda Forbus started her nursing career in 2003 as an RN in the pediatric cardiac intensive care unit at the Medical University of South Carolina Children’s Hospital in Charleston, SC. She became a family nurse practitioner and began working as a pediatric and adult heart transplant nurse practitioner in 2007. She spent some time at home with her new baby in 2011 and began working part-time in an on-campus college health center in 2012. Additionally, Amanda taught nursing students at MUSC in 2014. Amanda loved working with college students and felt professionally fulfilled by supporting them. She enjoyed counseling students but realized she needed additional education to provide the best care to her patients. She went back to graduate school and completed a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner program in 2020. Amanda sees her patients as individuals and not as diagnoses. Her role is to work with patients to identify problematic symptoms and potential interventions while highlighting sources of strength and celebrating resilience. She believes medication plays an important role in management for some patients but she is thoughtful in developing an individualized plan.

The ease of signing up to become a patient, the convenience of telehealth service, and the availability of appointments made all the difference in me receiving help for my depression now as opposed to who-knows-when. A major factor in me seeking treatment for my depression and then continuing with treatment has been convenience, availability, and ease of access to treatment. For me, MindPath is a terrific solution.
