About Bryan Barros, LCSW
Bryan Barros believes in a non-judgmental approach to therapy, with an emphasis on identifying mental strengths, gaining insight, and understanding how mindfulness can lead to relief from emotional and mental pain. Bryan pulls from many modalities in his approach toward therapy; including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Motivational Intervention. Most of all, Bryan believes in the power of kindness and being fully heard and seen. He believes that people are not defined by their diagnosis and that finding solutions to alleviate symptoms is always possible. In a world that seems to be moving 100 miles per hour, he maintains that we can learn to calm our minds and sit with uncertainty.
Bryan has worked in the field of Human Services for over 20 years in many capacities, including Child Welfare Social Worker and a Health Needs Specialist. In 2011, Bryan received a Master of Social Work from Rhode Island College and began the road toward becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Along the way, Bryan interned in an inpatient psychiatric unit at Butler Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island, and most recently worked for over two years as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker on the inpatient psychiatric unit and in the emergency department at Johnston Health in Smithfield, NC.
