About Poonam Deshmukh, M.D.

Poonam Deshmukh, M.D., is a board-certified Adult psychiatrist and board-eligible Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. Dr. Deshmukh completed her medical school training at D. Y. Patil Medical School, Pune, India. In 2018, she graduated as an adult psychiatrist from Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, North Carolina. It was during her training that Dr. Deshmukh became motivated to pursue child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. She graduated as a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist in 2019. Dr. Deshmukh is also a member of various professional associations – APA, AACAP, NAMI. In addition, she is interested in clinical research and this led her to earn a Master’s degree in Public Health- Epidemiology from the University of Texas, Houston.

At Mindpath Health, Dr. Deshmukh’s practice will include treating children, adolescents, and adults. Her aim is towards providing comprehensive patient and family-centered clinical care. She addresses bio-psycho-social determinants affecting mental health along with delivering evidence-based mental health care. Her efforts to create and promote mental health awareness and fight the stigma associated with mental health illnesses will continue during her practice.
