About Shawne Ortiz, Psy.D.
While at A&M she noticed she was one of the few Latina women attending the university and it was at this time she realized that she might be able to combine her interests in helping people and social justice with the field of counseling. Her goal is to help all her patients by providing caring, culturally sensitive therapy services to anyone she serves.
Shawne's greatest passion lies in providing clinical services that help individuals, couples and families have healthy and happy lives. She is also passionate about working with underserved populations that might not otherwise have access to mental health services. For this reason, Shawne completed a certification to provide psychological services to Spanish-speaking skills so she can provide services to individuals whose first language is Spanish or who are more comfortable having services in Spanish.
Shawne is drawn to SFT because it is systemic, positive, future focused, and goal oriented. She believes in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and she does not believe in stigmatizing labels. Shawne has successfully utilized this philosophy in brief therapy and long-term therapy.
