About Thomas Murphy, DNP-PMHNP
Thomas Murphy spent years on the road, touring as a musician, which allowed him to meet people of all walks of life. He listened to people's stories and was exposed to such a wide variety of people with unique experiences, which allowed him to come into the field of nursing with an open mind. He developed a passion for caring for people with psychiatric disorders starting from his time as a CNA - quickly realizing that mental illness discriminates against no one. Keeping with this mindset has allowed Thomas to use his skills and creativity to form unique care plans for all patients. He loves that in mental health, interpersonal relationships are a large part of a patient's success. Thomas loves learning from patients and working together to find a solution. He is most passionate about the beginning of a new era of psychiatric care. In the last decade alone, the field has grown enormously, and he is excited to be on the frontline of the new chapter of mental healthcare, utilizing the rich field of research that continues to expand, providing patients with the most up-to-date forms of care and focusing on the patient-client relationship as a foundation for success. Thomas' goal is always to do whatever is necessary to make a patient comfortable. He will go above and beyond to let them know there is no judgment for their circumstance and remind them we are all human. Validation and interpersonal communication are always his focus and the first steps towards recovery. He wants the first impression to make it immediately obvious they have found a provider that will work hard to create a creative and unique experience and solution to their challenges. Thomas believes there is always a solution, there is always room for progress, and you should never, ever give up.
