Dr. Leela Magavi is a native Californian and Hopkins-trained psychiatrist committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals from diverse cultural, political, religious, sexual, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Dr. Magavi strives to create a safe, comfortable atmosphere for patients and their families in their journey toward recovery. She has a holistic approach, integrating various treatment modalities, including lifestyle changes, mindfulness and meditation, pharmacological agents, and individual, couples, and family therapy to deliver comprehensive, effective care. Dr. Magavi enjoys working with pediatric patients, adults, and older adults facing a range of concerns. She collaborates with her patients and tailors treatment to each individual’s unique life story and goals, aiming to enhance their quality of life. Dr. Magavi completed her adult psychiatry residency at Georgetown University Hospital, during which time she gained invaluable experience caring for veterans at VA Washington DC Health Care. As a resident, she received the String of Pearls teaching award. She completed her child psychiatry fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she served as the chief fellow and published a manuscript on transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). In her free time, Dr. Magavi enjoys spending time with loved ones, trying different cuisines, watching movies, and embracing the beauty and diversity of California. She looks forward to helping as many individuals as possible and contributing to the effort to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health.
