Leila believes in collaboration and respect, and that open and honest communication helps promote better outcomes in treatment as well as the patient’s desire to get better. She is an active listener who is patient and compassionate. Her goal is to help patients grow towards a better version of themselves, whether it be with psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, or both.
Leila’s ability to be empathetic helps her patients understand they are not alone in their journey. Oftentimes, life experiences provide an optimum learning environment that helps inform or shape patients’ perspectives. Leila has been in the mental health field for over 16 years. She started as an acute care RN and chose to transfer to the behavioral health unit. When asked why she wanted to transfer, her reply was, “I feel at home here.”
