Melissa tailors her approach to what her patients need in the moment. She incorporates humor, sarcasm, and different metaphors to help patients understand different perspectives. She strives to be transparent and honest, knowing her goal is to equip patients with the tools to be self-aware and -reliant. She uses a variety of evidence-based practices during sessions such as motivational interviewing (MI), cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), and is certified in trauma focused cognitive behavior therapy (TF-CBT).
Melissa got into mental health because she enjoys helping others and providing a safe and comfortable space to help sort out life’s challenges. She believes life can be really difficult and we all need someone to lean on for support. Everyone deserves to have the opportunity to have someone sit with them and help guide them through the ups and downs. Outside of work, she enjoys walking her dogs, doing puzzles, watching movies and TV, and attending concerts. You will often find her reading a book while listening to country music.
