Dr. Ghazikhanian’s approach to patient care is rooted in seeing each person from multiple perspectives, evaluating for psychiatric illness, understanding their life story and circumstances, and recognizing who they are as an individual, including the behaviors and patterns that may be helping or harming their well-being. He takes a patient-centered approach, prioritizing careful listening and empathy as the foundation for choosing psychopharmacologic and psychotherapeutic interventions that are tailored to each patient’s needs.
Dr. Ghazikhanian was drawn to psychiatry to help individuals overcome the suffering and challenges of mental illness and build meaningful, fulfilling lives. He’s also drawn to psychiatry intellectually, for many of the same reasons he loves film, television, and literary fiction: all three are mediums for examining the human experience, the inner lives people lead, the choices they make, and the forces, internal and external, that shape who they become.
