Dr. Sun’s philosophy as a clinician is grounded in evidence-based medicine, which Dr. Sun considers the foundation of safe, high-quality care. At the same time, Dr. Sun stays open-minded and draws on a broad range of approaches to help each person feel better. Patients describe Dr. Sun as friendly, easy-going, and warm. Dr. Sun works collaboratively with patients and their families, and respects the unique dynamics of each person’s history and current life.
Dr. Sun is trained in both general psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry, and specializes in treating children, adolescents, and young adults. Beyond medication management, Dr. Sun’s training includes multiple psychotherapy modalities: psychodynamic psychotherapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), supportive therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).
Dr. Sun is bilingual and provides care in both English and Mandarin Chinese. Dr. Sun understands the distinct challenges minority populations face, and is an advocate for LGBTQ+ patients, racial and ethnic minorities, and immigrants.
Outside of work, Dr. Sun is outdoorsy and adventurous. Dr. Sun enjoys distance running, horseback riding, stand-up paddleboarding, hiking, and wing foiling. A fun fact: Dr. Sun is tall, a little over six feet. Dr. Sun uses they/them pronouns, though they aren’t particular, any pronouns are completely fine.
