Joi’s treatment approach is holistic and humanistic, grounded in caritas: the practice of caring for each person with kindness, dignity, and respect. She believes meaningful healing begins with understanding the whole person rather than simply treating a diagnosis or managing symptoms.
Joi partners with her patients to create thoughtful, individualized treatment plans that reflect their unique needs, values, and goals. Her style emphasizes conservative, evidence-based medication management, patient education, and shared decision-making. She strives to help patients maximize their quality of life, promote mind-body wellness, and nurture their emotional well-being. Drawing upon her background in integrative mental health, acute care nursing, and psychiatric treatment, Joi brings warmth, clinical insight, and a whole-person perspective to each therapeutic relationship.
Joi’s interest in mental health was deeply influenced by a complex family history of mental health challenges. These experiences gave her an early appreciation for the profound impact mental health can have on individuals, families, and communities. Outside of work, Joi enjoys gardening, community service, spending time with family, and connecting with her community. She also loves exploring nature, especially chasing waterfalls and discovering beautiful outdoor spaces. A fun fact about her is that she loves the smell of coffee, even though she does not drink it!
