Dr. Prabakar believes that effective psychiatric care begins with getting to know each patient as a person. Recognizing that there is no single approach to mental health treatment that works for everyone, he takes the time to understand each individual’s experiences, goals, values, and circumstances. His approach to treatment combines evidence-based psychiatric care with individualized treatment strategies. He emphasizes open communication and transparency throughout the treatment process. He works collaboratively with patients to develop goals and make decisions that feel both informed and achievable. His goal is not to simply treat a diagnosis or manage symptoms, but to help each person achieve meaningful and lasting improvement in their overall wellbeing.
Dr. Prabakar chose to be a psychiatrist because, as a physician, he values the opportunity to get to know patients in depth and build meaningful therapeutic relationships. He has experience treating a range of psychiatric conditions, including mood and anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, personality disorders, and substance use disorders. He is also passionate about reducing the stigma surrounding mental health treatment and creating an environment where patients feel comfortable seeking the care they need.
Outside of work, Dr. Prabakar enjoys exploring foreign media, gaming, discovering new restaurants and cuisines, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
