Carlos (he/him) was initially drawn to the mental health field through own life experiences while supporting family, friends, and navigating own personal challenges. Over time, he discovered a deeper passion for helping people understand themselves, connect with their strengths and strengthen important relationships in their lives. Carlos enjoys working with the college and graduate students as they navigate the opportunities this stage in life presents whether it’s friendships, relationships, managing academics, reestablishing confidence and navigating life stressors.
Drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Client Centered Therapy, Carlos’s treatment philosophy centers on creating a collaborative, strength-based approach where the client feels heard, respected, confident and grounded. He believes the client is the expert in their own life and has the answers they seek through a collaborative and safe space that is cultivated in therapy. He likes to work alongside the client to develop coping skills, gain additional insight, build resilience, and reconnect the client to their preferred self. His clinical interests include anxiety, depression, stress management, self-esteem, life transitions, grief, and attention and concentration deficits.
When Carlos is not working, he enjoys hiking, biking, basketball, cooking, drawing, and spending time with family.
