Dr. Penny Russell (she/her) is a psychologist who has been deeply committed to providing mental health services since she was in college and volunteered at the local child abuse prevention agency and the county crisis hotline. Over the years, she has worked with a large variety of people with a wide range of concerns in multiple settings. She enjoys working with college students as this time in life is one filled with challenges, self-development and discovery, and clarification of one’s identity and values.
Dr. Russell works within a psychodynamic and attachment theory framework. However, she is eclectic and utilizes aspects of various therapeutic approaches, such as CBT, to best meet the needs of each individual. She views therapy as a collaborative process and meets people where they are—building on strengths, exploring past experiences and learning how they impact the present, processing loss, trauma, and other difficult experiences, and clarifying what one needs and wants moving forward.
Outside of work, Dr. Russell enjoys yoga, reading, being in nature, and hanging out with her family, friends, and pets.
