Dr. Michael Buchholz takes a collaborative, patient-centered approach, tailoring each treatment plan to the individual. Building rapport and creating a nonjudgmental space are central to his practice, he explores how treatment can help patients move toward the life they want to lead. His training across several psychiatric subspecialties and experience with TMS allow him to provide comprehensive care for patients with a variety of conditions and draw from a broad range of treatment options.
Dr. Buchholz was drawn to psychiatry during medical school, where some of his most meaningful experiences involved listening to patients’ stories and seeing the impact that compassionate mental health care could have on their lives. A San Diego native, Dr. Buchholz lived in Texas and North Carolina while completing his education and medical training before returning home. Outside of work, he enjoys being outdoors, playing pickleball, listening to live music, and spending time with family and friends.
