About Mohammad Abu-Salha, MD
Dr. Mohammad Abu-Salha is a board-certified psychiatrist and works with patients of all ages. Dr. Abu-Salha obtained U.S. citizenship in 1998 after serving rural communities in North Carolina. In 2006, Dr. Abu-Salha founded Johnston Psychiatric Associates with his wife, running the practice for 14 years. He was awarded the 2021 American Psychiatric Assembly Profile of Courage Award for speaking publicly against Islamophobia. In 2015, his two late daughters fell victim in the Chapel Hill Shooting. After serving various populations, Dr. Abu-Salha established his motto: “Despite how politics, money, and geography try to divide humanity, it is quite amazing that we’re all much more alike than we’re different.”

Dr. A typically assists me with better understanding my diagnosis. When necessary hell put things into laymans terms while never giving me the feeling hes being condescending. Hes direct but that works well with my personality.

Doctor A has provided me with excellent care for close to 10 years now. He pays attention to the patient as a whole person. He can be rather blunt at times, but that is what is needed to get through to patients like me! I will continue to trust him with my psychiatric care as long as he continues to practice.
